*twirls around into the thread* Alright, perhaps Menelmacar was not able to come around to post here, but here is an IM that he left me not too long ago:
"As Beren looked into her eyes Within the shadows of her hair, The trembling starlight of the skies He saw there mirrored shimmering. Tinúviel the elven-fair, Immortal maiden elven-wise, About him cast her shadowy hair And arms like silver glimmering.
So the answer could be Luthien's arms."

Hmm, it sounds nice. Here is what I dig out: Answer: ShadowfaxShadowfax they called him. By day his coat glistens like silver; and by night it is like a shade, and he passes unseen. - The Council of Elrond, FotROh yes, Menelmacar, always provide source for your quote. Answer is consider inncorrect without it.

Darn it! I even told you by PM that Shadowfax had been my first guess! I'm gonna have to start going with instinct from now on. Great, honey. *walks away while muttering all over the place*

Anor Malthen ~ Who/what gleamed like silver in the shade?"
Question says in the shade, while according to thequote, Shadowfax gleamed like silver during day, and was like a shade at night. (And my source is A knife in the Dark, LotR)

The only alternative I would suggest is this, from LotR, Lothlorien. Out of the shadows a ladder was let down: it was made of rope, silver-grey and glimmering in the dark, and though it looked slender it proved strong enough to bear many men.
Oh, and hello everyone! ;D

Menelmacar - I agree, I'm not too happy with my answer either. Amalric's however look excatly correct I think. I would go with that. What the rest of you think?
Btw, wellcome Ammy. *hands over a cold beer from the fridge*

'Shadowfax' doesn't completely fit, which is why I had put aside that first guess of mine.
Sir Spamalot...er...Ammy *g*, your answer though does sound true to the question that is asked. I vote for that one. And welcome aboard.
<timeloop>
I've just posted our answer. We shall see how that goes.

Here is our second question:
What name was burned in the heart of an old king's old friend?
It took me forever but I think I found the suitable answer: Azog
“Years afterwards Thrór, now old, poor, and desperate… he went away with one old companion only called Nár … Then Nár turned the head and saw branded on the brow in Dwarf-runes so that he could read it the name AZOG. That name was branded in his heart and in the hearts of all the Dwarves afterwards.” – RotK, Appendix A, Durin’s Folk

That was fast. I'm going to look through the books and any other source I have after my 'daily posting routine' but 'Azog' fits the bill very nicely either way.

Double post...I know, bad me *puts halo on*. Anyways kiddies, here's our fourth question:
Who spoke with everyone, in their own mysterious tongue?"
And my attempted answer would be: Mithrandir
"With Dwarf and Hobbit, Elves and Men, with mortal and immortal folk, with bird on bough and beast in den, in their own secret tongues he spoke." {LotR, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Mirror of Galadriel}

Well, I just gave the best answer that I could for the 5th question of this round, but needless to say, I'm quite sure that it's the incorrect one. However, since it's best to give something rather than nothing, I had to post it. I am however, rather disappointed (and this is putting it mildly) in the lack of help (save for Hakatri and Ammy, who I have to be fair and admit that he helped with the first question), that the team is showing. That's all I'm going to say.
