Ok, hobbits have posted their answer and it looks pretty watertight to me. I posted ours so we should get the next round of questions quite quickly if Finrod is about.

Bleeding hobbits have decided to be cheeky and attempt to steal - and I quote - "based on the grounds that Team Hanks quote does not fully answer the 'who' of the question. All they give is "The wizard" and this could mean any of the five Istari (wizards) that are known to have come to Middle-earth."
Basically, they added 1 line to the quote. I will be highly pissed off if they get it but it seems like an act of desperation to me.

that will really suck, if they get the steal. annoying little people. but we still have another question and I'm almost sure the elves are not so annoying to award the steal.

Well thankfully Finrod hasn't even considered it (though from the Hobbit's statement that they've sent an e-mail it looks like they're appealing against it, incredibly).
So we're 6 - 4 up going into the last round:
Team Hank Question #5 : His/her, who totally followed father's orders, single name has two different meanings. Who is this person? The Shire Question #5 : Who, one younger than another by only a year, were thought to be competitors?
Hmmm... Elendil is a possible for following his father's orders, or maybe someone like Faramir and Boromir. Name with two meanings is tricky.

ok, checked in the back of the Sil and Elendil does have 2 meanings - Star Lover and Elf-friend. Just need a neat quote that gets the two things together...

Can't find a single quote but the two of these together might work. Can we quote from the index? Otherwise I can't find a place where the two meanings of 'Elendil' are written together.
"But Elendil did all that his father had bidden, and his ships lay off the east coast of the land; and the Faithful put aboard their wives and children, and their heirlooms, and great store of goods." The Silmarillion, Akallabêth
Furthermore, the index tells us this about him: "Elendil (...) The name may be interpreted either as 'Elf-friend' (cf. Elendili) or as 'Star-lover'." The Silmarillion, Index

Please accept my apologies for not being more active lately; my RL schedule suffered a serious hiccup. But I've been following along from the sidelines as best as I can. You guys have been amazing!
And Elarith, I haven't been able to find anything more fitting than what you've got for quotes...

Heh, no worries Enne.
Meep, ending up dog jogging all this afternoon - he never tires! Anyway, I had another flick through references to Elendil last night in LotR and the Sil but didn't come up with a better quote than those 2.
Any ideas on the Hobbits' question?

Gah, I can't find anything more suitable for an answer to the hobbits' question...
*rolls in a keg of Elarith's favorite beverage* Whatever that happens to be. :-p
