Hehehehe. Good job you posted though, I was still asleep when the deadline struck.

ok, I know I haven't been any use this match. I had to finish the elen and thanks to me forgetting to email all the edited articles to the computer at my parents house I could basically edit everything twice. then I had some coding problems but the paper is finished now. just waiting for mel to answer my last email and then the paper can be posted. so I thought I'd show my face here again and try to help you.

Ouch, Ele - as a fellow editor I feel your pain!
Well, we got our last question right, but so did the Minions.
Next questions: Mordor: Who was given a jar intended for a controlled substance? Hank: What was beautiful and entombed?
I thought of Numenor or MT but those are people rather than the thing(s) that the question implies. Hmm. Something in the Sil?

I'm thinking the Arkenstone, definitely beautiful, and possibly entombed with Thorin? I don't have the Hobbit to check it though. Possibly Orcrist too? Or anything the trolls had in their cave?

A later post from the Nav:
Some unasked-for clarifications... Mordor: The substance is controlled in this world, not Middle-earth, so you needn't prove it was controlled. Hank: It goes without saying that your object was beautiful; you needn't prove it.

Arkenstone would work nicely - it was indeed buried with Thorin, whereas Orcrist was laid on top of his tomb. Especially good if we don't have to prove it was beautiful.
Something else - the brooch that Tom Bombadil brings out from the barrow?
A few possibilities! Got a debate post to finish and get up but I'll be back with quotes and whatnot when I'm done with that.

"They buried Thorin deep beneath the Mountain, and Bard laid the Arkenstone upon his breast. "There let it lie till the Mountain falls!" he said" ~The Hobbit, The Return Journey
Look ok?

Oh, here's what I found about the Barrows:
"As Frodo left the barrow for the last time he thought he saw a severed hand wriggling still, like a wounded spider, in a heap of fallen earth. Tom went back in again, and there was a sound of much thumping ande stamping. When he came out he was bearing in his arms a great load of treasure: things of gold ,silver, copper, and bronze; many beads and chains and jewelled ornaments."~FOTR, Fog on the Barrow-Downs
Personally I incline toward the Arkenstone, but what do you think?

Ducky, I would agree - Arkenstone all the way...

Bleh, I crashed out after getting the debate post up and missed the deadline! (Darn 36-hour deadlines mean they're always falling when I'm asleep - d'oh!)
I think we missed the deadline by some way... at least Mordor didn't steal but it'll be tough to get those points back if they're right with their answer.

Not to worry - Mordor didn't try to steal, and Nav awarded both teams points for the right answer. Apparently he wasn't going to be too strict on the 36-hour rule this time around? Thank the stars I happened to be on the Plaza when I was! I'll take slipping in under the wire...
Anywho, the Next questions:
Mordor: Who said that the world was changing? Hank: What sounds were of rare occurence?
Hmmm... *digs through books*

I'm sorry I haven't been around much this match, I've had about 5 pieces of coursework to be working on simultaneously, and hardly the time to breathe!
Anyways, good work so far!
I have no idea on our question, but I have a feeling that Mordor's might be Treebeard. I'll see if I can fish up a quote.

Enne, we didn't get any points for our answer because it was late... has Nav edited his post or deleted and reposted?
Two points behind, we can catch up!
Thoughts on ours... sound of water in Mordor? Or something along those lines? I'll start looking.
