oh...no UT eh? And I was thinking they made a sort of "we are brothers" pact, but I could be wrong.

Kinship and lands- I'm not good on either of those! Rohan is the first thing to spring to mind, but I'll give the books a thorough trawling.

A possibility:
The Northmen. (Ancestors of the Rohirrim) "His [Calmacil's] chief concern was with the Northmen.
These had increased greatly in the peace brought by the power of Gondor. The kings showed them favour, since they were nearest in kin of lesser Men to the Dunédain (being for the most part descendants of those peoples from whom the Edain of old had come); and they gave them wide lands beyond Anduin south of Greenwood the Great, to be a defence against men of the East." Appendix A, (iv) Gondor and the Heirs of Anárion

I looked all through the Sil yesterday in case it was anything to do with Elves granting each other lands in M-e, or Edain granting other Men lands in Beleriand but didn't find any given because of kinship, alas. So the Northmen from the Appendices is the best I've come up with. :/

tthe answer looks good. that is honestly the only answer I can think off. as far as I remember, the elves never gave land to men, they took it and then became friends with the elves ( or not of course). and there is no bond of kinship between men and elves as well. how much time do we have left until the deadline?

I think about 16hrs and 20mins, but I can't be absolutely sure as I'm not the best mathematician in the world.
That quote looks pretty good; I can't really think of anything else it might be but as I said, kinship and lands aren't my strong point! I'll keep looking nonetheless, though.

That's exactly what I was thinking of when the question first popped into my head, and that's what I would go with.
And since Elarith looked through the Sil, this point is kinda moot, but the elves did grant the Edain lands in Hithlum.

kingo, they gave them lands but there isn't any kinship. helekwen, can you please make sure someone posts the answer? I'm going to my room in Utrecht now and once I'm there I'm going to straight to bed, I'm having problems with seeing the screen sharp right now so I'll definitely will be sound asleep when the deadline passes and I won't be able to make sure the answer is posted.

I found a quote in FOTR that might work for MTs answer
"He turned and saw that Sam was now standing beside him, looking round with a puzzled expression, and rubbing his eyes as if he was not sure that he was awake." - FOTR, Lothlorien

Just checked the thread - MT's posted a different answerto Narv's steal, Pippin, but it looks a sound one to me with the quote they have.

No problem.
Yeah, looks like the steal is a no-go, but good job on finding that.
