Actually it's very much not a moot point *g* The jr. rules are effectively the same as the sr. ones, with just a few changes in time limits and sources, the only rule that has ever existed in the drill league about complaints as far as I know (and I've been drilling a long time) is this one; Complaints/Challenges are to be brought by Captains only, and then to be taken offline between Captains and Officiant(s). I even went and looked at the officiants handook just to make sure there wasn't anything else. Nor is there anything in the jr. rules, so we're perfectly within the rules to do so as far as what's written down. I'm assuming they think this simply because it's usually issues with the answers of your own team that cause complaints *g* If Elendil does agree with what they've said, then he's going to have to back it up with something in the rules, otherwise it's simply making an arbritary policy *shrugs* Plus I also don't get the 'suddenly', it doesn't say he felt old the second Bilbo stole it, so I'm really confused at this point ... Nice work on the Merry quote for this round

Ooh, that's good to know Saeth - I had checked the rules in the thread but being a total drill noob wasn't sure if there was another giant rule handbook lying around somewhere that might say anything else on the matter. Fingers crossed then.
Unfortunately Rivvy have posted pretty much what I had for the steal, except I'd been rather blind and hadn't seen that in the next paragraph Gollum is referred to as looking like an insect. *facepalms*

We have a tie at 10 - 10!
Tie-breaker Question #1 ~ Who had to ask three questions to get a clear answer?
I was thinking about Gandalf talking in riddles, so perhaps Aragorn?

Maybe Bilbo asking Gollum 3 times "What have I got in my pocket?" before Gollum made a guess?

I've been searching all questions I can think of and I've yet to come up with a good quote. The closest I've got so far is Eowyn and Faramir on the walls in 'The Steward and the King' chapter, Faramir has to ask her three different questions before she gives him a clear answer about loving him ... but this is very much a case of interpreting, i.e. actually counting the fact he's asked three questions etc. It does fit the question perfectly, I just worry it's not right because there's no one quote that says three questions were asked. Sorry I don't have time to type it all out right now, but it's easy to find if someone wants to wade in with a second opinion *g*

I agree, there's nothing there to quote even about asking three questions--it's weird. I can think of many places questions were asked (Smaug to Bilbo, Gandalf to Gollum, etc) But none of them have good quotes to support it.

Looked up Gandalf's reappearance and he asks Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas what their tale is 3 times but then goes on to answer his own question.
What about this? Galdor
"Galdor of the Havens, who sat near by, overheard him. 'You speak for me also,' he cried, and turning to Elrond he said: 'The Wise may have good reason to believe that the halfling's trove is indeed the Great Ring of long debate, unlikely though that may seem to those who know less. But may we not hear the proofs? And I would ask this also. What of Saruman? He is learned in the lore of the Rings, yet he is not among us. What is his counsel - if he knows the things that we have heard?' 'The questions that you ask, Galdor, are bound together,' said Elrond. 'I had not overlooked them, and they shall be answered. But these things it is the part of Gandalf to make clear; and I call upon him last, for it is the place of honour, and in all this matter he has been the chief.'" FotR, The Council of Elrond

Ok, e-mailed that as our answer as time was running short. Hopefully Nienna will accept it. *crosses fingers*

Copied and pasted from Elendil's post in HQ:
"There is still an ongoing appeal carried over from one of the semi-finals, with fairly mixed results from those that I've talked to regarding it. I'd ask for patience from those involved, and I'll have a ruling as soon as possible."
No prizes for guessing which match he means. Fingers and toes and eyes are all crossed.
