It's time to start preparing for the playoffs, and eating the souls of those Elves (if they even have them). If not, we'll make like zombies and eat their brains out so they can't answer any of the questions. Either way, they are going down. *evil laughs*

alright, we made it to the playoffs. small problem for me. the two weeks of lab time I have to do for my researchproject start on monday 23 April. I will have time to get online but I'm not sure if I'll be awake enough to think about the questions. but I'm sure that we will be able to defeat those elves also without my help ( considering we also got to the playoffs without much help from me, thanks to RL) anyway, let's kick some elf butt.

Just checking in. I'm here, but full of cold. Hopefully the germs will disappear by the time the first questions are up!

Hmm. I can post the banner tonight if Merin or Ele haven't done it before I head to bed.
Sneaky Rivendell have had their numbers swelled by Lorien defectors - grrrr! Let's crush them!

Me guess is at least one isn't going to be posting it--Merin is gone from the plaza for the next two months. *g* She isn't going to be around for our glorious victory

Ah, Merin nipped into the Raedboda thread earlier to say she wouldn't be able to do her articles, but I wasn't sure if she was flitting around enough for Drill or not. Shame she's going to miss the mighty Hank play-offs.
I'll get it posted now to make sure it's done.

Ok, posted, but I totally forgot about Saethryth joining us so she's not on the roster. I'll get it updated sometime tomorrow, it's too late for messing about with art software now without making a total mess.

1st Questions!
Team Hank Question #1 ~ Who enjoyed a meal but forgot to wash up? Team Imladris Question #1 ~ Who could have lost its gift of hearing?
I believe our answer is the dwarves in the Hobbit, the relevant quote coming when Bilbo wakes up to find they didn't clean up after their breakfast *nods*

ducky, I think you're right. but I don't have an english version of the hobbit to look for a quote. sorry for not posting the banner but I was in a lab for ten hours yesterday and did not have the energy to stay at the plaza for very long.

Hmm, I thought of that too (and there are actually two different occasions of washing up not being done, see below) yet neither really says they 'enjoyed' the meal, tis curious ...
"Up jumped Bilbo , and putting on his dressing-gown went into the dining room. There he saw nobody, but all the signs of a large and hurried breakfast. There was a fearful mess in the room, and piles of unwashed crocks in the kitchen. Nearly every pot and pan he possessed seemed to have been used. The washing-up was so dismally real that Bilbo was forced to believe the party of the night before had not been part of his bad dreams, as he had rather hoped."
"To the end of his days Bilbo could never remember how he found himself outside without a hat, a walking-stick or any money, or anything that he usually took when he went out; leaving his second breakfast half-finished and quite unwashed-up"
(Both Roast Mutton / The Hobbit)
I'm thinking the first is more likely, but I thought I'd best include both. The only other washing up I remember off the top of my head is the last morning at Bag End, I'm sure they leave the pots for Lobelia, maybe there'll be something there?

For the second quote - a few paragraphs earlier we have: "Bilbo began to whistle loudly and to forget about the night before. In fact he was just sitting down to a nice little second breakfast in the dining-room by the open window when in walked Gandalf."
So the enjoyment is implied.
Looks like the Bilbo answer is the best one so far. The only trouble with both quotes is that the diners didn't appear to 'forget' to wash up, but deliberately left it. Could just be something lost in translation though - is Nienna a native English speaker?
I can't think of any other instances of people not washing up. Checked the Lobelia reference and they do leave the washing up but again it seems more deliberate than accidentally forgotten.
